"As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has- or ever will have- something inside that is unique to all time. It's our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression." - Fred Rogers

Who Do You Want To Be?
“Statements are oblivious to nuance. Platitudes are nothing but idea corpses. But a question always leaves room for you.” - Hannah Gadsby

Becoming
I am working everyday to become the kind of person I love. Even when holding myself accountable is uncomfortable. Even when setting boundaries with myself, and other people are hard, and maybe even feel embarrassing. Even when I realize my coping mechanisms no longer serve me, and I have to unlearn, and establish newer healthier ones. Having patience and empathy for other people has been so helpful for me, because I sometimes have to remember to also treat myself with the same respect that I show others. Growth for me has been slow, and I don't really notice day to day. But sometimes I think about the kind of person I was two-ten years ago, and I'm happy I have been making small steps forward during that time. So I can remember fondly the missteps, and the strength it took to correct them. So that in the future when I fall again I will have the tools to pick myself back up.
Be kind to yourself you are worthy.

Looking for That Just Add Water Unconditional Love
I was looking for that, "just add water kind of unconditional love." So in jest it alludes me glinting its musings with every adorable couple who momentarily captivate my gaze. And yet I smile through softened eyes in indulgent delight at its ever adoring attentions. Satisfied with the idea that one day, could be someday, or never at all. And life will still be splendid either way.
Being a queer person use to feel like an isolating burden. Deciding to make time to separate myself from the perceptions of what I thought love/myself were suppose to be, and finally embracing who I am/what I really want in life made the difference between actually enjoying this existence, as apposed to just letting it pass me by in self imposed pain. Happy Pride every month, day, and minute to all of my LGBTQIA+ community. And I would like to wish extra strength, courage, and love to those who are still evolving, and learning about themselves everyday.

Spinal Tap
I have never seen men so pleased as to take credit for my creativity. Dressed in half crooked smiles, and radiating an engrossing delusional gaze they congratulate themselves in the reflection of my eyes. I let them feast on their own pretensions for the following days caprice whittles them away to nothing. And I, as always, continue to live my life.
People will try to take from you your achievements. Know that every goal you attain is born from the time you dedicate through determined ambition, steeped in honesty, and blossomed from the real help gifted to you by people who love you along the way. Let the back handed compliments of people who consider themselves your peers hold no weight, and thank your true colleagues for their emotional/intellectual investment.

Ghost
I erase my appearance in public spaces as I move about the world as a single entity. I feel like water flowing place to place always visible but unseen, and undisturbed. As a young white cis gender straight passing woman I have privilege when I decide to go out of my house alone, or travel. I am more protected socially than most. And yet I still know I am never safe alone especially when the sun sets, or my license plate doesn't match the state I'm in. Implementing my knowledge on safety I pack away all of my loud print clothes, makeup, platform shoes, wear my natural hair color, mute my accent, and speak quiet/direct/short. I don't dare to walk unarmed anywhere for my own safety. And yes THAT TOO IS PRIVILEGE. I can have a weapon on me, and it's not an automatic death sentence. In fact it can save me from becoming a victim or dying at the hands of people who would see me harmed for their own personal gain. I am constantly living threw an internal battle with my own physical safety as a queer person who wants to just live an authentic existence, but also dress/act in a way that allows me safe passage in a world that takes advantage of people at the first sign of naïveté or prejudice derived from othering.
It's better to be safe than sorry, but never be sorry for creating boundaries that keep you safe. The wonderful thing about personal boundaries is that you control why and when you set them, and whom you set them with. Be active in your interactions with this world.
